HITCHES WITH SOUTH AFRICAN FIRMS
A "partnership" formed by the Societe Nationale d'Electricite (SNEL) and the South African EEF-MEDIS-ICM consortium has run into trouble. Although the 50/50 joint venture dates from late spring (AEM 233) the consortium in question still hasn't paid the $50 million it had agreed to lay out to contribute towards financing an investment program concerning several hydro-electric projects, and mainly the 13 MW Katende power station in Western Kasai.
