Compromising with EU
Sonatrach is on the verge of accepting a compromise with the European Commission on the question of destination clauses. After more than three years of horse-trading, an agreement was reached by both sides to do away with the clauses and transform them into cost insurance and freight (CIF) delivery contracts – in which Sonatrach sees to the shipment of gas – in the place of the current free on board (FOB) contracts.
