The Takeover Targets
Golden Star Resouces’ acquisition of St. Jude Resources last week underlined the fact that some mid-tier gold producers in West Africa are seeking to acquire advanced exploration projects. Golden Star, which produces gold in Ghana, bought out St. Jude with shares worth $118 million, winning control of the latter’s Hwini-Butre and Benso projects in the Ashanti gold belt. (...)
