PILOT TEST TO PRIVATISE RICE IMPORTS
The Comoros government has agreed to authorise private companies to import rice for a limited period of time. The finance ministry has called on the Banque for Industry and Commerce (BIC), a subsidiary of the French Banque National de Paris, to return to the parastatal, Onicor (until now this company has had a monopoly on rice imports), about three million dollars the enterprise had deposited in the bank as a guarantee for future rice import.
