The management committee of the European Development Fund has approved financing worth ECU 1.97 million (US$2.6 million) for Madagascar in order to re-establish the level of production of nearly 5,000 hectares of rice paddies at the rate of two harvests annually in Tulear Province, in the southern part of the country, which was hard hit by drought in recent years.
