CLAMP DOWN ON PHONE CALLS
Uganda Posts and Telecommunications Corporation has placed an order worth one billion Ugandan shillings (about US$1 million) for sophisticated telephone equipment with French companies in a bid to clamp down on the excessive use of telephones by Uganda's civil servants, a phenomenon which has seen them run up a total unpaid bill of $33 million.
