FRENCH SENATE MISSION SPOTS HOLES
Three French senators who visited Khartoum in June have turned in a pretty critical report on their trip. Georges Berchet (RDSE), Aubert Garcia (Socialist Party, government) and Paul d'Ornano (RPR, opposition) agree in their mission report that their Sudanese hosts "were very anxious to describe the progress their country had made" but that "a single incident contributed to sowing doubt" in their minds as to "the Sudanese authorities' good faith".
