UPDF MOODS AND COUNTERMOODS IN DRC

Deployment of Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF, Ugandan army) units in Democratic Republic of Congo has exacerbated many failings (involvement of private business, mismanagement, etc) and sparked marks of indiscipline and bad temper in its ranks. According to a Ugandan military source, several UPDF commanding officers accompanied by their aides de camp left Kisangani on December 17 without orders and forcibly boarded an aircraft for Uganda, to protest against lack of supplies and shortcomings in the organization of military operations which they blame on the high command of the expeditionary corps commanded by UPDF army chief of staff brigadier James Kazini. (...)   [637 words]   [€8]
