The new MPs and potential ministers

Re-elected comfortably to the presidency and with a big majority behind him in Parliament, President Yoweri Museveni and his National Resistance Movement (NRM) came out of the first multi-party poll very well. The strategists of the NRM now want to follow the example of the Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM), the Tanzanian government party, whose popularity had dropped considerably when multi-party elections were initially introduced but later stabilised its position and stayed in power. (...)   [793 words]   [€8]
