DISPLACED PERSONS MEAN HEADACHES
A study on the recent ethnic conflict in Kenya, ordered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) from the consultant John Rogge and handed to UNDP at the end of October, underlines that the conflict results from increasing pressure for access to land but is also "directly and unequivocally related to the ongoing process of democratisation in Kenya", which has revived traditional ethnic rivalries, and competition for real estate.
