FAVOURS FROM A MINISTER
Tanzania's Swahili-language weekly Moto Moto recently claimed that the country's prime minister (and first vice-president) John Malecela had used his personal influence to make sure that the state's holdings in Tanzania Tea Blenders (TTB) were sold to the British tea company Brooke Bond, which is very firmly established in the sector in Tanzania and currently holds 40 percent of TTB capital (the remaining 60 percent being held by the Tanzanian state through Tanzania Tea Authority).
