STIRRING DAYS FOR THE HIGH COMMAND

An important reorganization of Uganda's army high command got under way in mid-December as the armed forces braced for possible cross-frontier attacks from Sudan following reports of huge troop movements in southern Sudan. According to information obtained by The Indian Ocean Newsletter, military sources said that a 15-man meeting of the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF) chaired by the head of state, lieutenant general Yoweri Museveni, in the western town of Masindi made a number of changes in the top brass. (...)   [575 words]   [€8]
