COMMONWEALTH ASSURANCE

During debates at the end of last year with FRELIMO (governmental party) and the Maputo authorities about the membership of Mozambique in the Commonwealth, one of the arguments which seem to have carried some weight in the final decision was that there was not in southern Africa "a single case of a leader or a political party in a Commonwealth country having given up power except by its own initiative". (...)   [238 words]   [€5]
