MEDEF Family Photo a Bit Strained
Before it took place, circles within the French employers federation MEDEF sharply debated the wisdom of sending a delegation to Algiers on Nov. 23-24, according to our sources. Completely discouraged by new protectionist measures introduced by Algiers - and specially the obligation to hand a 30% stake in import-export companies to local partners - small and medium sized companies in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region, among others, were much against what they viewed as a “courtesy call” on Algeria.
