Nouakchott strikes environmental compromise to let MTR resume extracting titanium
The Chinese company Mauritania Titanium Resources has resumed mining on its black sands licence after getting the green light from Nouakchott. The authorities have found a compromise between the environmental risks posed by the project and their desire to enter the growing global market for titanium, which is extracted from black sands.
