German foundations provide discreet support for opposition DA and ActionSA parties

A new political funding law obliges parties to reveal their financial sources. Germany's Friedrich Naumann and Konrad Adenauer foundations have links with the opposition Democratic Alliance and Action SA parties, which they are supporting through training and help with the drafting of their election programmes.

Madagascan president Andry Rajoelina is continuing to rely on the same small group of individuals who were handling security questions before the mid-2021 attempted coup. He nevertheless launched a radical reorganisation of the army before the would-be putschists were arrested.
