President Kenyatta and the Congolese government hope that bringing talks on the stability of eastern DR Congo to Nairobi will give new impetus to the peace negotiations. But the absence of some of the warring parties limits their scope.

In Bangui, every demonstration in support of President Touadéra or against the UN and France is organised in the premises of the presidency by a small group that includes presidential aides, senior members of the presidential party, and bosses of the Russian mercenary group Wagner.
