Angola's mediation has achieved significant progress in talks between eastern DRC's belligerent parties, even if its implementation on the ground remains elusive. After receiving Congolese and Rwandan heads of intelligence and military security - as well as an M23 delegation - Luanda is now set to host the two countries' foreign ministers.
One of CAR's largest armed groups is participating in talks with the government with a view to disarming. Meanwhile, the rebel group's main adversaries on the ground, the Russian paramilitary group Wagner, have not been invited to talks scheduled in Chad in the coming weeks.
