British major BP has abandoned almost all of its oil activities on the continent in recent years, thus underscoring its ambition to focus on natural gas and the emerging prospect of hydrogen. The firm remains present in four countries: Senegal, Mauritania, Egypt and Angola.

The Egyptian government is preparing to issue new "green" bonds to finance its sustainable development projects. Although it is still struggling to cope with the repercussions of the war in Ukraine, Egypt is using every possible means to attract foreign investment.
