Guinea's industrial fishing sector is dominated by a myriad of Chinese firms, many of which are involved in illegal practices. The government is hoping that improved coastal surveillance will curb a phenomenon that is costing the Guinean economy millions of dollars in lost revenue.

DRC President Félix Tshisekedi finally agreed on 5 September to extend the East African Community regional force deployed in the east of the country by three months, despite Kinshasa preferring the deployment of SADC troops.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's zealous coffee reforms, aimed at giving Kenyan firms a larger share of the spoils, have hit multinationals like Neumann Kaffee Gruppe hard. They are also part of the government's attack on the interests of ex-president Kenyatta.
