How Riyadh aims to reshuffle the deck in its clash with Abu Dhabi

The Haftar clan, which controls eastern Libya, must navigate the rivalry between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. While under Saudi pressure, Khalifa Haftar nonetheless continues to cultivate his strategic relationship with Abu Dhabi and to control the war routes into Sudan.

While its candidacy for the Peace and Security Council was being challenged before the Office of the Legal Counsel, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic withdrew from the race without a final decision being issued. Elected by a narrow margin, Morocco is pushing its agenda in Addis Ababa.
