Tokyo redefines its future relations with the continent

On 22 August, Japan closed the 9th edition of TICAD in Yokohama, attended by some 20 African heads of state. The event went off without a hitch despite a tense domestic political climate. Tokyo was able to discuss the future of its strategy in Africa, particularly in the face of Chinese influence.
