    Oligui Nguema dispatches envoys to Brazzaville over ill-gotten gains crisis

    On 26 September, a Gabonese delegation attempted to persuade Denis Sassou-Nguesso to accept Libreville's position in support of referring Antoinette Sassou-Nguesso to the Paris criminal court. This greatly angered Brazzaville, against the backdrop of a power struggle for control of the Parti Démocratique Gabonais.

    Members of the Southern African Development Community have still not managed to agree on the third country that will sit on this key body of the regional organisation. South Africa hopes to persuade Angola to accept the role, in place of Lesotho.
