Bongo fears a general strike
Tension in the oil industry has climbed to its highest point since a walkout in February 2013 that shut down production. The government is doing its utmost to avoid a repetition.
Gabon’s oil and energy minister Etienne Ngoubou, backed by Maixent Accrombessi, the president’s powerful chief of staff, has come under wide attack by oil companies, unions and some wage-earners. The reason is simple enough: the creation of new institutions and
