France quits MINUSCA command in further sign of military disengagement
French General Stéphane Marchenoir, chief of staff of the UN peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic, MINUSCA, will step down in August after a year in the post.
Russian private security firm Wagner has stepped up equipment deliveries to CAR's armed forces over recent days, using a range of large cargo plane brokers. The logistics escalation comes as rebels threaten the 27 December presidential poll.
The Special Mixed Security Units (USMS) should soon be sent to the Ndélé and Bangassou military training camps. It is there that the European Union Training Mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM-RCA), which is helping to set up the USMS units, is preparing to train the headquarters staff of the Central African African Armed Forces.
