N'Djamena calls for French reconnaissance flights along Sudanese border
Chadian president Mahamat Idriss Déby fears that the conflict in Sudan the rearmament and organisation of armed groups hostile to the government from Darfur.
While France has just completed its withdrawal from Mali, Paris is preparing to provide nearly €15m in budgetary aid to Ouagadougou. It is also considering a military support programme to strengthen Burkina Faso's armed forces as they face increased threats from Islamist militant groups.
Since the beginning of the year, the International Monetary Fund has signed support programmes with four of the six countries in the oil-dependent and Covid-weakened Central African monetary zone. But its talks with Chad and the Central African Republic have stalled.
