The DRC authorities are forecasting a slight fall in growth for 2024, to around 6.4%, due to a drop in the price of raw materials. The upshot of this is a reduction in the budget forecast from $16bn to $14bn.

The army high command is keen to expand its cargo plane fleet so that it can combat the M23 rebels more effectively in eastern DRC. Military equipment brokers are queuing up to do business with Kinshasa, among them the British firm Fortfield International headed by Issah Huseini.
