As the election season approaches, ending with the ballot on 20 December, those currently in power are worried about what former president Joseph Kabila (2001-2019) and his clan may be planning. Aside from a public statement in June, Kabila has been keeping very quiet, fuelling all sorts of rumours about his actual intentions. Some hard-core "Kabilists" are urging him to take the initiative even though, until the start of the year, he seemed to have distanced himself from Congolese political life
