AFC-M23 seeks to demonstrate its ability to provide a response to Ebola

Up against the Congolese army on one side, the M23 armed forces must now also contain the risks of the spread of the Ebola virus. For the rebellion, this health crisis is a real-life test of its ability to govern the territories under its control.

Juliana Lumumba on global campaign to lead the OIF

The Congolese candidate jockeying to take the helm of the International Organisation of La Francophonie has been visiting member countries to present her programme. She will head to Asia after North Africa, and may even visit the Sahel states run by military juntas, which have withdrawn from the organisation.

Kinshasa-M23 talks may move to Switzerland

Qatar, which has been concerned about its security since the start of the war with Iran, wishes, at least for the time being, to move the talks between Félix Tshisekedi's government and the rebels active in eastern DRC to another host country.

Since its swift conquest in eastern DRC a year ago, the rebellion has been working to turn its military advances into lasting power. A handful of civilian leaders have been entrusted with managing the territories now under AFC-M23 control.
