Coal-hungry India counts on South African tech
India is hoping to reinforce a partnership in technological areas in which South Africa is a world leader to help with its coal-dependent power sector.
Morocco's OCP, which is the leader in the fast-growing African fertilisers market, has run into increasing competition from Russia's PhosAgro and Saudi Arabia's Maaden, particularly on its west African "home" turf. The battle has been made fiercer by the direct interventions made by heads of state and governments.
Increasingly popular with foreign companies wanting to do business with Saudi Arabia, the local Shamal Group is currently being wooed by Italy's Leonardo, which is hoping the growing influence of the company's owner will boost its chances of securing a Eurofighter deal.
