France's foreign trade advisers chase new Libyan contracts
The business climate between the Libyan government and French companies has improved in recent weeks, opening up the prospect of new contracts in telecommunications, health and hotels.
Following a posting in Tunis, the new French defence attaché Thomas Billard will now have to restore good relations with Fayez Sarraj's Government of National Accord. He comes from the same intelligence unit as Emmanuel Macron's former Libyan adviser, Paul Soler, whom he knows well.
Alfa Healthcare boss Muwafak El Mabrouk, a dominant player in the pharmaceutical and medical supplies distribution sector who has close ties to the Sarraj administration, has been making inroads into the Cyrenaican market.
