EU immigration agency Frontex still not deployed in Dakar
In February 2022, the European Union (EU) proposed establishing its border control agency, Frontex, in Dakar. A year later, however, negotiations have still not got under way.

The European agency will spend €150m to monitor the North African coast by plane and drone. Canada's PAL and the British Alto want to join existing providers CAE, DEA and EASP Air. The missions could extend to the Atlantic or even mainland Africa.
