Who's in and who's out of Arab League's Algiers summit
As the Algerian capital prepares to host the 2022 Arab League summit in November, more and more heads of state have begun to confirm their presence.
Algerian foreign minister Ramtane Lamamra is due to receive his Arab League counterparts in late August to prepare the organisation's next summit. They will try to smooth out their differences on several thorny issues, including the possible return of Syria to the league and the Ukraine war.
Announced on 1 July, Algeria's purchase of Dutch-Russian group Veon's 45% stake in the mobile operator Djezzy has not been finalised, as Algiers has yet to make the $682m payment to the Dutch-Russian group. The group's general manager Matthie Galvani and his management team are therefore still in place.
