New leader for Franco-Moroccan MP friendship group
Karim Ben Cheikh is to become the new leader of the France and Morocco parliamentary friendship group.
Under Nicolas Dufourcq's leadership, BpiFrance has succeeded in becoming an integral part of France's diplomatic presence in West Africa and Morocco less than 10 years after it was founded. As one of the financial arms of French foreign policy, it is now looking to extend its network, particularly in East Africa.
With the assistance of lobbyist Omar Alaoui, Rabat is planning a jamboree for French MPs supportive of Morocco's claim to sovereignty over Western Sahara. It is likely to involve a flight on the inaugural Royal Air Maroc flight between Paris and Dakhla in June.
