Albert Kouinche, deprived of Victor Fotso and battling Orange Money, fights for his group's survival
The founder of the Express Union money transfer service, Albert Kouinche, whom billionaire and fellow Bandjoun native Victor Fotso kept under his wing for many years, has been badly hit by competition from mobile money services. Kouinche, an MP from the ruling CPDM party, is being kept afloat by state contracts and is trying to diversify into the hotel business.
