BHP Throws in Towel
After two of its wells turned up dry in the Kwanza basin, BHP has decided to pull out of Angola, leaving the way open for Anadarko.
Anadarko was an oil and gas exploration company based in Texas and one of America’s most active oil companies in Africa. It was a pioneer in the nascent Mozambican oil industry, before making way for the major oil companies, as they alone had the requisite financial resources to develop the oilfields in the country's offshore. It was taken over by Occidental Petroleum in 2019.
