Havas distances itself from Alpha Condé's presidential campaign
The French advertising and PR group Havas cancelled a press trip it organised to Guinea on October 4-8, less than ten days before the country goes to the polls to elect a president.
Alkache Alhada, who has taken over from Mohamed Bazoum at the strategically important Nigerien interior ministry, is on very good terms with President Mahamadou Issoufou. He also has longstanding links with the "Mr Africa" of the French socialist party, Guy Labertit, and the former Ivorian president Laurent Gbagbo.
While career diplomats and ministers are the public face of France's dealings with Africa, a new generation of forty-something technocrats, advisors and development specialists, many of whom are graduates of France's grandes ecoles, are now taking an interest in the
