Ouattara looks to fill gap left by his absent prime minister

The Ivorian president has been without a prime minister since 18 February. Hamed Bakayoko, who has health problems, is currently in Paris where he had a meeting with Ouattara on 1 March. The head of state is looking for ways to reorganise the government to deal with Bakayoko's absence, which looks likely to last several weeks. [...]

Since prime minister Hamed Bakayoko was evacuated to France on 18 February, his allies and associates have been phoning their contacts frantically to try to get news of him. The Ivorian presidency delayed making announcements to avoid disrupting the parliamentary election count but has now appointed two key presidency figures to take care of pressing government business.
