Conakry scours market for combat helicopters

Guinea is currently prospecting for attack helicopters to strengthen its border with Mali in the face of potential attacks from Islamist militants. The authorities appear to be in contact with Russia but this option may be discarded for fear of US sanctions.

Aero Vodochody's combat aircraft order blocked by rival US bid

The authorities in Accra have just suspended the negotiations they opened this summer with Czech aircraft builder Aero Vodochody for the acquisition of six L-39 NG light attack aircraft. They are now studying a counter-bid from the US which has the favours of the Ghana Air Force high command.

Czech Aero Vodochody/Omnipol light combat jets delayed until 2022

Aircraft manufacturer Aero Vodochody and its strategic partner Omnipol will be two years late delivering four trainer and light combat L-39 NGs to the Senegalese Air Force. The close collaboration between the two Czech defence companies could lead Omnipol to buy Aero Vodochody, which is having financial problems.
