Juniors on the lookout for local nickel
Mali is seeing a rise in the number of nickel exploration applications as demand for this metal essential to energy transition continues to grow across West Africa.
The Malian government, which has been without the means to airlift its troops into northern Mali for more than a year, earlier this month recovered its Airbus Casa C295 transport aircaft, which has been out of action for a year for maintenance.
Already negatively impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the prospects for fertiliser sales in Mali, one of the leading markets in West Africa, have deteriorated further. The recent coup d'état has increased uncertainty among international commodities producers and local blenders.
