Coris Bank to set up shop in Brazzaville?
Burkinabe bank Coris Bank International, which has so far focused on expansion in West Africa, may be looking to expand into Central Africa, via Brazzaville, according to the latest speculations.
For two years, the company Titane Constructions has been seeking compensation after the public auction of a piece of land valued at nearly €20m by the bank Orabank. The matter has been referred to the Ohada Common Court of Justice and Arbitration.
The Burkinabe businessman Idrissa Nassa wants to make his investment holding company Coris one of the driving forces behind the development of west Africa's economies, largely through mining, and has a network of entrepreneurs and contacts close to power to help him do it.
Already the owner of Burkina's International Business Bank, the CEO of the construction firm Ebomaf has his sights set on the Togolese banks UTB and BTCI as well as the pan-African company Orabank, in which the Ivorian civil servants' pension fund recently acquired a majority stake.
