While he awaits a court verdict on charges of abuse of trust and forgery, the former Soguipami boss has had to stop mining bauxite for his firm GIC in the prefecture of Boffa.

Conakry gives green light to Kanté and Sinohydro to resume their bauxite operations

Despite ongoing legal proceedings, GIC, led by former mining minister Ahmed Kanté, has signed a settlement agreement with the authorities to secure a position in the country's second largest bauxite mining complex. At a standstill since 1 April 2025, the project has received financial support from the Chinese state-owned giant.
