Copper-cobalt: Chinese CNMC struggling in Zambia but progressing in DRC
The Chinese mining giant has suffered several setbacks at its Zambian mines, but is currently in a test phase in DRC, with a view to increasing its capacities there.
Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote's firm has won an appeal against Enfin, the company that introduced it to the Zambian authorities and claimed it was owed unpaid fees. Enfin was founded by Andrew Kamanga, who recently renewed his term as president of the Football Association of Zambia.
The Chinese conglomerate CNMC and private security magnate Erik Prince have signed a partnership to facilitate the transport of ore extracted in the DRC-Zambia Copperbelt to the Angolan port of Lobito via a corridor that is not yet fully operational.
