Pretoria bets on new strategy to arrest the fall of diamond flagship Alexkor

The South African state-owned company, which controls a vast land and offshore diamond concession, is floundering and lags far behind its Namibian neighbour Namdeb, co-owned by De Beers. Under growing parliamentary pressure, Alexkor's new management is betting on diversification and deep-sea mining to get back on track.
