The new minister of petroleum played a key role in the restructuring of the state-owned firm's debt.
The Société ivoirienne de raffinage, or SIR, is the Ivorian state-owned company in charge of refining and distributing the country’s oil products. Since oil production is insufficient to cover the country’s needs, SIR purchases the oil it refines from Nigeria and Ghana.
