DRC presidential advisers split on how to handle Rwanda

Felix Tshisekedi has repeatedly accused Rwanda of backing the M23 rebel movement that is advancing in eastern DRC. But many of those around him are more ambivalent about how to deal with Kigali.

The Forces Armées de la République Démocratique du Congo (FARDC), the regular army, is trying to retake the initiative in the east of the country after a lightning advance by M23 rebels in the Rutshuru area. With the help of Sukoï-25-type ground attack aircraft, the army has been bombing the enemy's positions in the wooded hills a few dozen kilometres north of Goma, the capital of North Kivu province. President Félix Tshisekedi's administration is seeking at all costs to avoid a repeat of what happened
