Perenco raided in France amid widening corruption probe

According to Africa Intelligence, the Paris headquarters of the Franco-British oil company, along with the homes of several of its senior executives and managers, was recently searched by French police. The raids are part of an investigation opened in 2023 by the national financial prosecutor's office.

The Gabonese government has filed a complaint in France with the financial prosecutor's office regarding allegations of "money laundering and corruption". The grievance, which targets the oil company as well as a lawyer close to the former first lady, Sylvia Bongo, marks a new stage in the conflict between Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema and the former president's clan.
