African Union special envoy Obasanjo's team takes shape at last

Until now, the former Nigerian president has been left to carry out his mission as Special Envoy of the AU to the Horn of Africa pretty much on his own, despite the numerous conflicts and political instability in the region. This is about to change with new blood expected in the coming days.

MbZ proposes diplomatic package to Sisi and Abiy ahead of AU summit

Ahead of the African Union summit to be held in Addis Ababa on 5-6 February, the UAE's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan has been busy trying to shape a role for the UAE as a mediator in the region. To this end he held meetings, separately but only three days apart, with Egypt and Ethiopia's leaders.
