Rio Tinto held back by Transnet's logistical shortcomings

After months of dead-end discussions, the public transport operator proposed that the mining giant use trains originally meant for sugar shipments to haul ore to its export terminal. Concerned, Rio Tinto, which had launched the expansion project for its KwaZulu-Natal subsidiary, Richards Bay Minerals, put the brakes on the investment.
