New WFP aid package for Ouagadougou, Abuja and N'Djamena
The UN World Food Programme decided on a new support plan for Africa in early February. The budget is close to €30m.
Malian businessman Boubacar Coulibaly, head of the Matrans Logistics group, has just landed a major contract for $5m with the United Nations to provide freight and logistics services for the UN peacekeeping mission in Mali, MINUSMA.
Since Macky Sall came to power, the army has contributed strongly to Senegal's international aura. Through peacekeeping missions for the UN and close military cooperation with France, the army's political and military leaders, who have been hand-picked by the president, have been promoting the country's interests.
By dint of hard lobbying, Israel's IAI, Elbit and Mer groups have succeeded in landing the contract for the provision of protection at MINUSMA camps in Mali. They are now looking to repeat the feat at the 40 or so UN peacekeeping bases throughout the world, some of them in the Middle East.
